Heavy rains lashed across Mumbai on Saturday bringing normal life to a
standstill. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has
predicted heavy rainfall till Monday in Mumbai and its suburbs. Civic
authorities and state administration declared a holiday for schools and
colleges in the city till rains subsides.
All students whose names are appearing in 3rd merit list for junior college
admissions take note.Last date for securing admissions&paying fees
extended to 6th August 2019 5pm inview of ongoing heavy rains.Students are
requested not to panic&avoid unnecessary travel !

Roads, railway lines and air traffic was affected by the incessant rains that
lashed across Mumbai. Thousands of passengers were stranded after railway
lines were completely cut-off due to water-logging. People living in lower
parts of the city have been shifted to relief camps. Services to many major
routes of the city were suspended as well.
Civic authorities also warned people to not go near beaches due to
possibility of high tide. People have been asked to stay indoors
till rains subsides. Mumbai police issued an advisory asking people to travel
only if it is necessary.
“As per weather forecast, Intense spells of rain likely to continue in the
next 4 hrs and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hrs. We request
Mumbaikars to take adequate precautions & ensure safety. #Dial100 in case
of any emergency. Take care Mumbai”, tweeted Mumbai
police.
According to reports, one person died in Thane after being electrocuted
inside his house. Last week too, Mumbai was hit by heavy rainfall that killed
many people.
