Over the past one week, most states across India have been receiving heavy
rainfall as monsoon strengthened in the country. According to the
Indian Meteorological Department, central India and some
other parts of the country can expect heavy rainfall in the next few days to
come. This is because a fresh new low-pressure is expected to form over the
north-west Bay of Bengal.
The @Indiametdept (IMD) forecasts widespread rain for the next five days
till July 31. The department issued Red warnings to north Konkan and Madhya
#Maharashtra for Sunday-The Weather Channel India.
A red alert has been issued in Gujarat for the
next couple of days until rains stop. State governments have warned people,
especially those living in coastal areas, to be careful. Odisha,
Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and parts of Konkan are
likely to receive heavy rainfall. Even national capital New
Delhi received heavy rainfall which brought down the high
temperatures.
In places like Assam and Bihar which has been flooded due to
heavy rainfall, the situation is gearing up to become worse due to the
incessant rains. Over 300 people have already lost their lives
and many animals killed in various rain related accidents.
“Floods and Heavy rains across various states in India have severely
affected many people. Saluting our Central forces for successfully evacuating
numerous people in the flood-affected areas. I pray to almighty for the early
recovery of those affected”, tweeted Vijayasai Reddy V,
Member of Parliament.
Heavy rains lashed across Mumbai bringing normal life to a
standstill.
“To all my constituents and fellow Mumbaikars, kindly keep yourself indoors
and safe tomorrow as the IMD has issued a red alert. The BMC has yet again
failed us in its facilities and preparations for perennial monsoons.
