Landline connections have been partially restored in the Kashmir Valley. This
includes parts of Srinagar. Phone lines are back nearly two weeks after
restrictions were placed in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the Centre’s move to
end the special status granted to the state and bifurcate it into two Union
Territories.
Of the over 100 telephone exchanges, 17 have been restored. These are in
Budgam, Sonmarg and Manigam areas that lie in central Kashmir. In north
Kashmir, services have been restored in Gurez, Tangmarg, Uri Keran Karnah and
Tangdhar areas, while in Srinagar, landlines are back in the Civil Lines
area, Cantonment area and near the airport.
Mobile internet connections have been restored in five districts in Jammu
region.
Government offices in Jammu and Kashmir have become fully functional.
Schools will reopen from next week iin some areas and telecom services will

The central government has told the Supreme Court that the ground situation
is being reviewed everyday.
Almost 400 political leaders of the Kashmir Valley are under detention. Two
former Chief Ministers, Mehbooba Mufti and Omar
Abdullah, are among who have been arrested.
Meanwhile United States President Donald Trump has said that
India and Pakistan must talk about the Kashmir issues. This was said during a
phone conversation with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has claimed
that the US and Pakistan had a cordial conversation and agreed to keep in
touch over the Kashmir dispute. “Prime Minister Khan conveyed Pakistan’s
concern on recent developments in Kashmir and the threat they pose to
regional peace”, saus Qureshi to the media.
